Growing your own greens

I was having a discussion in the # farm and garden section of the Mancave server about store-bought vegetables and how we once fell sick after consuming a cabbage. Ever since that episode, we are afraid of buying cabbage and because cabbage cannot be grown in our parts and we cannot trust the vendors, it is really hard as cabbage is also one of our favorite vegetables and have I mentioned that we are vegetarians as well?

So, it is a wise decision to grow your own vegetables.

I do not have land

No problem. You can still grow vegetables in a pot and even keep it by the window sill. I have seen people growing vegetables on their rooftop as well. It is not as hard as you think. There are many experts who can advise you on how to go about it and they may be your neighbor as well. Look around and if you see your next-door neighbor growing plants, ask him or her how they went about it.

I do not have time

If you have time to go to the store and buy food or groceries, you will have time for growing plants too. It all depends on the will power and passion of a person. You can try and when you think hard about the positive effects and benefits of growing your own organic food, the trouble is worthwhile and you will never stop again.

What should I grow?

Learn about what vegetables grow well in your area. Procure seeds and proper pots or ready to grow beds or grow bags. Start small and try your luck with tomatoes and maybe spinach. Spinach can be grown easily and can be harvested repeatedly. Green chilies and coriander too can be grown without much of a hassle.
