Then one of them, perhaps a lesser black-backed gull decided to impress the girls. | Als ich näher ans Wasser ging, zogen sie sich auf ein paar Felsen zurück, die den Hafen vor der See schützen sollen. Zuerst meckerten sie nur lautstark. Dann entschied sich eine, vielleicht eine Heringsmöwe, die Mädels zu beeindrucken. |

| Usually, I want them to fly closer to me, but they avoid me. This one actually came directly towards me, screaming. I was so confused (well, & tired) that I forgot to zoom out. Hence I could delete most of the pics I made, because they contained only wingtips or blue sky. | Normalerweise will ich ja, daß sie nahe an mir vorbeifliegen, aber die Viecher meiden mich. Diese kam jedoch laut schreiend direkt auf mich zu. Ich war so verwirrt (& müde), daß ich vergaß, wegzuzoomen. Daher konnte ich dann die meisten Bilder löschen, da sie nur Flügelspitzen oder blauen Himmel zeigten. |

| The first 2 images are from the first run it made at me. It came really close, & that was the best I could do. On the 2nd run, I made more pictures by just keeping the releaser pressed. That resulted in the animated gif above. But this time the gull didn't come as close. | Die ersten beiden Bilder stammen vom ersten Anflug der Möwe. Dabei kam sie wirklich recht nahe, & das war das beste, was ich tun konnte. Beim 2. Anflug konnte ich mehr Bilder machen, da ich den Auslöser einfach gedrückt hielt. Das ergab die animierte GIF. Dieses Mal kam die Möwe aber leider nicht ganz so nah. |

Howdy from Texas bossel! Wow that is a great set of pictures! They're all great but the last one is my favorite because of the contrast in colors of the rocks to the mountains in the background, really nice!

I like both close-ups & structurally interesting, colourful landscapes. But when it comes to birds, I always want to get as close as possible.

Thanks! Actually, I didn't feel threatened at all, just confused. There was nothing to defend, no nesting site, no young, just some bread in the water. I don't think it actually wanted to attack me, just show off.
Maybe he was thinking that you had brought lunch and he was excited to see you!
