| When walking around Hong Kong Island near Victoria Harbour, I came across Hong Kong Park. Considering how densely packed parts of Hong Kong are, this is a very welcome breather. The park itself is already nice if you are into bird watching. Even better, in the park is the Edward Youde Aviary. | Als ich in der Nähe des Victoria Harbour durch Hongkong spazierte, kam ich auch an den Hongkong-Park. Da HK teilweise doch ziemlich verdichtet ist, ist so ein Park gut zum Durchatmen. Der Park selber ist schon sehr interessant, wenn man sich für Vögel interessiert. Besser noch, im Park gibt es das Edward-Youde-Aviarium. |

| The above photo shows a rainbow lorikeet (Trichoglossus moluccanus) (originally an Australian species) inside the aviary. But to get to the aviary I first had to walk through Hong Kong Park a bit. So even before I arrived at the aviary, I came across a number of interesting birds. | Das obige Bild zeigt einen Allfarblori (ursprünglich eine australische Spezies) im Aviarium. Um zum Vogelhaus zu kommen, mußte ich aber erst ein ganzes Stück durch den Park wandern. Deshalb begegneten mir auch vorher schon so einige interessante Vögel. |

| This is a masked laughingthrush (Pterorhinus perspicillatus). According to Wikipedia you can find it in China & Vietnam. In China I have only ever seen this species in Canton, though. In Hong Kong, it's quite common, though. | Das ist ein Maskenhäherling, den man in China & Vietnam finden kann. In China habe ich diese Art aber nur in Kanton gesehen. In Hongkong ist sie aber relativ häufig. |

| Birds of prey are pretty common in HK, too. &, though they are shy, they are easier to shoot than elsewhere. Even in Hong Kong Park, in broad daylight. Don't know which species this is, though. Perhaps some kind of buzzard. | Raubvögel sind in HK auch oft zu finden. &, obwohl sie scheu sind, lassen sie sich leichter fotografieren als anderswo, sogar im Park am hellichten Tag. Weiß aber leider nicht, um welche Art es sich handelt. Vielleicht eine Art Bussard. |

| That was a little surprise for me: wild cuckatoos. The yellow-crested cockatoo (Cacatua sulphurea) is no native to Hong Kong, but was introduced during colonial times. Now there are a few hundred birds roaming the parks. Sadly I couldn't get any closer to get better pictures. | Das war eine leichte Überraschung für mich: wilde Kakadus. Der Gelbwangenkakadu (Cacatua sulphurea) kommt eigentlich in HK nicht vor, wurde aber in der Kolonialzeit eingeführt. Heutzutage treiben sich in den Parks einige hundert Vögel herum. Kam leider nicht näher ran, um bessere Bilder zu machen. |

| Finally, I arrived at the aviary. Entrance was free (which is why I entered, don't know whether that still applies). According to their website, opening times are 9am to 5pm. They have some 550 birds from 70 species. One of them is the above green imperial pigeon (Ducula aenea). A pretty widespread species in South East Asia. | Schließlich kam ich zum Aviarium. Der Eintritt war frei (weshalb ich auch reinging). Laut deren Webseite ist von 9-17 Uhr geöffnet. Es gibt dort ca. 550 Vögel von 70 Arten. Eine davon ist die obige Bronzefruchttaube (Ducula aenea). Eine in Südostasien recht weitverbreitete Spezies. |

| The longest name of them all & the worst picture: a chestnut-backed scimitar babbler (Pomatorhinus montanus). Lives in moist forests of some parts of SE Asia. | Hierbei handelt es sich um einen Rotrückensäbler (Pomatorhinus montanus) (leider kein tolles Bild). Lebt in Regenwäldern SO-Asiens. |
