FESTIVALS OF TRIPURA
Man long for relief and respite from his regular routine .For this he organizes fairs and festivals .He enjoys his day-to-day living through them.India is a land of diverse communities .As a result,festivals vary from community to community .The mixed (medley)population in tripura has contributed to the variety of the festivals .These festivals are accompanied with dance and songs .They are commensurate with tripura's culture and tradition .These festivals forge unity and solidarity.Most of the festivals have religious fervour .In july people organize kherchi puja, an interesting trible festival. People of all sects gather at the temple of fourteen gods and goddesses. The fair that comes off on the occasion of the puja runs for a week . Kher puja , another traditional tribal festival, takes place in august . Worshippers pray to god for their peace and prosperity.' Vaishaki mela, and tirthamukh mela of amarpor are also significant festival of Tripura. These festival go a along way to sweeten the life of the commoners in Tripura.
