MEDUSA : THE QUEEN OF THE FOREST...

Once upon a golden time, in a land where the sun never set and never rises, was born a child so special. Her name was called Medusa, for she was the grand daughter of Meuth, the age long priestess of the snake god.

Medusa's parents were peasants and never fancied the priestess religious preferences. Medusa's birth gave her parents further, the reasons to hate whatever the granny was doing. She was born a half human with a snake bottom.

Medusa was a pretty child with a skin as golden as a sun, skin texture as succulent as butter and a eye as green as a dewed plant. She had a breathing hair which squirms every now and then; her hair is actually a habitat for some unknown specie of reptiles.

Her mother died of shock after delivery as she never imagined she would give birth to such creature. Her father took off and set to leave the town for the ill luck he believed his wife birthed. Medusa was brought up in the temple by her granny in the confines of her room. She only comes out during special worship days.

Little Medusa might have been bored of life and her special existence if there had not been temple days where she meets Govid, her best friend, whom his parents brings for worship twice a week. He was the only friend she had, as other children wouldn't play with her due to fear and because she was a special creature.

As Medusa grew, the reptile of her head became recognisable. There were baby snakes and it grows according to her age. Now she had seven playful serpents on her head. The good thing was, they obey her commands through her thoughts. "Sleep" and they are down relaxed.

Govid's parent never liked the friendship that existed between their son and the "snake witch" as they call Medusa, so they instigated some members of the community to proclaim the spread of misfortune in the vicinity as a result of the special existence. They collaborated with the town priest to point the problem at the snake child.

On a faithful day, they set the hut where Medusa and her granny stays ablaze. Poor little Medusa couldn't do much to help her granny escape as the old priestess couldn't walk much faster due to age dysfunctions. The granny urged her to run farther into the forest from people. Before she died, she gave her special necklace to Medusa and apologised for not being able to explain it's uses but it is highly useful to her existence.

Little Medusa ran into the forest to face another life which she never imagined from her granny's love. She made a habitat from the under of an accommodating tree. It was funny how she heard the tree talk, so invariably, it became her best friend in her forest habitat. It's name was Ankor.

She felt so at home in her new habitat as every thing and creature seem to reverence her. She knew in no time, this was her home and she was the Queen in this world. She was bound to set a palace in her region and no human, she repeated, no human would she ever allow to cross her bounds.

Twenty years had passed and she has succeeded in turning the forest to terror for the villagers. The forest was sacred for fear of the wroth Medusa besought on trespassers. She had grown by now and had taken possession of the powers breathed into her by the terrestrial ancestors. She had developed herself and channelled inner energy into finding what her powers really was.

For one, she could spit venom in precision while attacking in unprepared battles. Secondly, she could spit fire when attacking larger number of enemies. Thirdly, her green eyes emits lasers which can penetrate even the strongest of rocks. She refused to acknowledge her last power which was for recreation; the power of her smiles.

She was watering some plants in her palace when she felt a negative energy. Human!!!! In her forest? What an audacious human that was! She moved swiftly in all her grace smiling mischievously for the new game that came her way after a long while.

She was going to take this a bit slowly. Not the faster kind of judgement she inflicts on others in the past. Maybe this human would be an experimental tool. She would make life miserable and terminate the soul inch by inch. It was all fun to her now. Vicious fun.....

She stood frozen looking at the unsuspecting victim's behind. She felt her powers draining like someone had poured salt on it. Salt was an allergy to her. She could remember plainly how she passed out in her younger days whenever her granny added salt in her meals. Only that she didn't eat salt after then and not even in that instant.

She was looking at a familiar human's behind. Her past seem sometimes like a blur because she made it like that. She didn't want to remember a thing and now it is slapping her face. The human she saw was trying to set a trap to hunt some kind of animals unaware of the stir he has caused another.

She was meant to attack but she stayed glued like a Statue awaiting time to fortell the next line of action. Time did. The young man finished setting the traps and turned back set to leave when he saw her.

He was meant to be scared or rather, she was meant to scare him but he stood equally as frozen as the woman, not for fear but as a result of some sort of recognition.

"He hasn't changed a bit in the whole of 20years" she thought.

"She is alive and hasn't changed one bit except became more prettier" he thought..

"What are you doing in my forest?" she asked, surprised at her calm voice.

"Medusa?" he asked surprised...
