RE: Challenge #04699-L315: The Green Revolution

in #fiction6 hours ago

Here in the USA, there was a really nasty case a few years ago. A person was going out at night to vacant lots that had no houses, and throwing large pouches of dandelion, chicory, cherry tomato, and other seeds of highly edible plants all over the lots.

He was arrested and charged with Terroristic Activities, Vandalism, Eco-Terrorism, and, because the green leaves and stems of the tomato plant can be poisonous if consumed, Attempted Mass-Murder in the 1st Degree.

People were like WTF?? Esp, the "Attempted Mass-Murder" charge.

The local prosecutors really pushed hard, but every judge it was brought to basically told the prosecutors to go bugger off. I'd have to look up the case again, this was pre-pandemic and I do remember it was in the southern states, but that was about it. Only reason I still remember it is because there was a big push for "seed bombing" back then and it was becoming a major trend, and I threw packets of seeds, too. I threw packets, specifically, of milkweed seeds into lots that didn't have any. Since they are a vital food source for the caterpillars of the Monarch Butterfly.
