It all began hundreds of years ago, as a cargo ship foundered and sank along the Oregon coast. Most of the cargo and crew perished, while a handful of crew, along with a pair of exotic monkeys came ashore on an uninhabited section of the harsh Oregon mainland.
As soon as the monkeys landed, they hightailed it to the tall timber and disappeared into the wilds of the Central Oregon forests.
From time to time, over the decades that followed, several inhabitants noted the distinct, yet creepy, sounds of monkeys in the forests, and soon the sounds were reported throughout the Cascade range, and later all along the Sierra Nevada range as well.
Legends developed, and stories were told around campfires, until one day the truth began to leak out...
