Today February 2nd, a group of gentlemen landed in front of my mum's supermarket. Good morning I greeted, same was thier reply. "My name is Etiese James, here are my collegues Utibe, Godswil and Oku Idap, we men from SON and we here to inspect and be sure that you are not selling substandard, pirated or expired product to people." I added, my name is Ekemini Thomas, you're all welcome.
An hour gone everyone's face started fruning, I had to excuse Mr Godswill "excuse me sir, yes wha. wha.. what isss the problem "look and behold he stamared. Sorry sir, what may be the implications of any expired product is found? He added "persecution and if serious we have the power to closedown this establishment. Meanwhile, Utibe is asking my sale representative (Euphemia)for her contact.
I turn to my right and saw the team leader coming out with 2 product: Ribena and vitavite.
He said,"let me applaud you for excellency in product and service. At the same time your Ribena is expiring on 14th while vitavite has and is the only expired product in your supermarket". For one expired product,, 100k is the penalty with complete disposal of such item.

Guys, it was a difficult experience. Still thinking of next move,, I glanced my eyes on the label and it was tagged 'best before' and not 'expired'. I started arguing that best before does not expired why because we have good better best so if a product is tagged best before it means it can either be good or better after such date but neither best nor bad(expired).
It wasn't a light argument,, men in black were involved,,, station tinks self but thank God the graph was not plotted using their values.
Let me advice manufacturers /producers to be accurate and precise with every piece of information they provide on their products.
