Through the myriad kaleidoscopic futures, I know it cannot be set in stone. However, your fate is destined for tragedy. Whether you walk it alone or with a band of merry men, the infinite possibilities collide into the same point. All you shall meet will meet the same fate by the end of your blade. -- Anon Guest

Curse or doom? Knowing the foretelling can allow one to try to wriggle free of it. "All you shall meet will meet the same fate by the end of your blade," said the witch. And the wise ones say, "One often meets their destiny on the path one chooses to avoid it."

So it takes a very clever mind to avoid a curse like that. And sometimes, a very simple solution.

In this case? Don't keep a blade. No sword, no dagger, no sickle nor scythe. Not even a polearm. Blunt instruments only. No, not even a razor or a pair of scissors. And yes, it does make my life just as annoying as you might imagine. Yes, I pay for hair and nails to get done. Yes, I make sure it's a different artisan. Just to be sure.

"The end of my blade" is a phrase with a lot of weight.

When you can't hold an edged weapon because of a curse, there's a limited way to be an Adventurer. It was pretty much Wizard or Cleric, and Clerics could remove curses if they had enough favour with the gods. So I signed up with the Dawn Lord and did everything I could to gain His favour.

Which included going out into the world and trying to give others a chance for renewal.

That was how I met Lehare. Another cursed soul, operating under the geas of a fallen god this time. One of the nastier ones with world-ending consequences if It ever regained deific power. I tried to save hir. I made the mistake of falling in love.

So I and the friends I made along the way are joining hir. I was hirs and ze was mine. Joined under the blessing of the sun. And I learned to my regret that 'Lehare' was another word for 'blade'.

We are going to perish in the attempt, in the effort to end a threat to existence as we know it.

Ah, but what a way to go.
