Welcome to the fourth fiction writing competition week 1. This is the last fiction writing competition of the year 2017.
I announced that the next fiction competition post would be up by the 3rd of December but sadly I had to delay it due to my poor health as well as some complications at work. I apologize for the delay as I know a lot of you will probably be very busy this season due to all the preparations that you have to make for Christmas. For those of you who would like to read the stories for the horror-themed Fiction writing competition held last month, you can do so by going here. So without delaying it, any further let's get this show on the road.
For new writers looking to take part in this competition and wondering what it is about, I suggest checking out the introduction post here. Hopefully, I will have the time after Christmas to revise the rules and make them better so that more people will be able to benefit from the competition.
Last month we did a horror-themed writing prompt in order to celebrate Halloween and give some folks a scare. In light of that, I think it would be best if we go with a Christmas theme for the writing prompt to end this year with a blast. I know the prompt might not seem like much but I wanted to give the writers a chance to come up with their own story for Children as well as choose the direction that they want the story to take. Let's try to get some really happy stories for all of the people on Steemit to read. The writing prompt for this month is...
"Christmas is fast approaching. Due to time constraints, Santa decides to lock himself in his workshop to prepare the rest of the gifts for the millions of children around the world that will put a smile on their faces. Unbeknownst to him a new danger lurks nearby bent on destroying the Christmas spirit forever. The man on the moon decides to give the Grinch a second chance and bestows upon him the title of a guardian to protect the season. Will the Grinch save Christmas or will he side with the mysterious enemy?"
It was a bit of a rushed prompt that I had to think up but I believe there will be many who will be able to polish it and breathe some life into it. Give it your best folks and let's make merry! <3
All of the rules are already laid out in the introduction post but just for the sake of it since I know some of you would like to get writing right away, I will just lay them down here as well.
1: Upvote and Resteem the Fiction competition posts for both weeks as well as follow @kyrios.
2: Minimum word count for the short story is set to 750 words.
3: Please base the story on the prompt that is provided in this competition post, all other entries will be excluded.
4: Place the link to your story in the comments of this post.
The deadline for submission of the stories is 12th of December so please ensure that you have placed the link as a reply in the comments.
It will also be very helpful if you could let all your friends who love to write know about this competition so that they will be able to take part in it. This will help us have many participants as well as a good amount of stories to read. I would like to wish all of you that will be joining this competition good luck.
