Chapter 1: A New Mission

Today was a big day. Sean looked down at the floor and wondered exactly how he got here. Looking out around him was something completely unfamiliar even though he trained years for this moment. I guess there is something wildly intoxicating knowing you're over 34 million miles from home. This wasn't exactly the first time we've been here. After the very successfully Phoenix 6 huge discoveries on planum and diverse mineral sample studies from the acidic hot springs.

Sean was a on a much different mission. 2 years after Phoenix 6 rovers picked up on unusual sound patterns. After spectrum analyzing the most bizarre pattern emerged which sounded much like one of our most familiar sounds...

"tick, tick, tick"

What exactly could this be? After years searching for space sounds earthlings finally stumbled on them. Little did we know just how spooky they would prove to be. Why after searching for decades did we find a sound so familiar to us. Sean was constantly reminded of this erry sound. He carried the same watch his dad gave him when was 12.

"Hello Sean, is everything going good up there?"headquaters said.

"Today is the first day we'll take the rover close to the transport core zone" The sounds came out from the intercom. "This will take us safely near the crater so we can inspect closer"

Sean was ready.

He was ready to answer questions that could undermine the entire human race and ultimately find answers to the erry sounds that haunt him.

"tick, tick, tick".
