I think there is a very good chance of mankind learning @tarazkp since many of the pleasures that people seek result in an equal amount of suffering for the seeker.
It has been a few thousand years, the uptake is slow :D
I think the Internet, and the possibility of freeing mankind from excessive (often boring) labor with the help of automation and technology will help. The next decade will be interesting!
I am not sure that is strictly true. If this world encourages the satisfaction of desire above all else, why are hedonists widely considered immoral?
Different desires for different people. Stone people desire to control and label with their version of morality.
