Hero Forge Miniatures: Forces of Chaos

in #figurines4 years ago

Though there was great dissatisfaction with the old Imperial system throughout Rossbera at the time of The Nine Empires, it was limited mostly to academia and the gentry. Revolutions may be spearheaded by members of the upper class, but they are supplied, staffed, and ultimately fought by the underclasses. Until the Great Rossberan War began, there was little reason for the proletariat to want the system to change. However, while the siren song that had been playing the longest was that of socialism, it wasn't the only one playing.

This druorn of Khandar is dressed in the robes of chaos, along with some scale armour. The basic pattern of the robe was worn in various forms by the Chaotic Summoners, a strange cabal of intellectuals who had become disillusioned with socialism and embraced a different movement altogether. The Chaotic Summoners originally formed on Rossbera, but spread to Khandar as the chuyinka began recruiting an army of black dwarves there. The dwarf lords themselves brought large numbers to the service of the chuyinka when they became summoners themselves.

Much like the druorn, this black dwarf leader is wearing that wicked-looking robe beneath his armour.

The wakizashi is a stand-in for a similar-looking blade that black dwarves frequently employed. Black dwarves, unlike red dwarves, tend to prefer curved blades and more interesting armour.

The black dwarves are the most war-like of all those who have a chaotic alignment, and they take pride in tattered garments and battle-scarred armour. Though they will make repairs when necessary, it is only to the point that the item is fucntional again, and not looking like new.

Black dwarf warriors are heavily armoured, employing entirely different tactics from their red-haired counterparts. There are two additions I need to make myself, those being the "death mask" visor for the helmet, and an axe-like bayonet for the shotgun, turning it into a short bardiche, suitable for both chopping and thrusting. Fun fact: the bardiche was historically employed as a gun rest as well as a melee weapon.

In the event that shotgun shells run out, there is no reason to hold on to such a heavy weapon. In addition to their short blade, many black dwarf warriors also carry a long, two-handed blade for use in melee combat.

This was originally a red dwarf, armoured the same way as a red dwarf shield gunner. However, I have since repurposed that model.

Black dwarf guards lock their shields together and advance on the battlefield, while others provide fire support from behind, either taller shooters or infantry tanks. When I start making my own models from scratch, I have a further development for these guys in mind: the interlocking tower shield and trident pole rifle, allowing black dwarf guards to form mobile fortifications on the battlefield, to the point where they can use their equipment to erect a well-defended camp.

While the black dwarf guards advance in a methodical manner, black dwarves who fully devote themselves to the very concept of chaos become advance champions, those who rush headlong into battle, leap into trenches, and lay all about on either side.

This is an instance in which the action of the gun itself matters, because a lever-action shotgun can be reloaded with one hand, unlike a pump-action shotgun.

Black dwarf champions would also be the ones to wield flamethrowers, but Hero Forge doesn't have one of those yet.

I quite a few vehicles in mind that are unique to chaos as well, but I have no idea when I'm finally going to get around to making them. Black dwarves and chaotic partisans make use of captured equipment quite a lot, and if you want to get an idea of what those may be like, check out my tainted tanks. Don't expect me to add any robots or daemon engines though, sorry.
