This character is closely tied to yesterday's work (which, by the way, I have made substantial progress on, and may finish in the next day or two), so I saw fit to share him now.
Garshif is a druorn of Khandar, and a highly revered individual throughout nearly all of the Khandarian mech-cities. He is something of a spiritual leader, owing to the great zeal with which he preached technological orthodoxy in his younger days.
Khandarian technology is, in many ways, more advanced than Rossberan technology. However, it advanced in an entirely different direction, since the Khandarians viewed electricity with immense abhorrence. With the exception of wireless communication, which is still viewed with great suspicion, all Khandarian technology is purely mechanical. While there are plenty who might wish to experiment with the "forbidden energy," Garshif was always quick to admonish those individuals ever since he was badly burned from being struck by lightning.
Garshif himself has a mostly mechanical body, with his flayed, withered flesh permanently enclosed in black iron. The "vitality packs" on his hips work by unknown, possibly forbidden means, and those who are most observant don't take long before coming to the conclusion that Garshif is being hypocritical when he condemns the use of electricity. However, Garshif always has an answer for when he is confronted about this, usually deferring to condemning the "evil green crystals" that are sources of great power, but also drive people mad (and, in his case, burned nearly all the flesh off his rib-cage).
I designed a second miniature for this character, one showing him shooting an energy ball from his hand. His iron hand is glowing as a result of that. I'm not exactly sure if I'm going to keep this (or his name, for that matter), for a number of reasons, but I wanted to play around with different textures to see if I could get a decent approximation of glowing metal. As it turns out, that attempt was successful.
Whether or not Garshif ends up fighting anyone in this fashion, he does end up coming into conflict with the chuyinka, first after making a bad deal with Rua Greyfeather, and then again after trying to interfere with the excavation of The Perch. Both of these events end up not only undermining his own position, but also causing strife both within and between the mech-cities. How, precisely, this plays out, I haven't figured out yet. In fact, I haven't even added prompts for that sub-plot to my outline yet. Time will tell, but it will certainly involve lots of steampunk power armour and other contraptions.
