Walt Disney continues to delight us and to surprise us with his last beautiful fantasy, so much so as to raise a spontaneous and thunderous applause of the thrilled audience in the hall at the end of the final scene that starts the end title. The myth, the supernatural, the imagination, the allegory, the fantasy, the metaphor, the symbolic and the surreal are magnificently exalted with Maleficent. But what is most passionate about this fantastic narrative, which freely revisits "Sleeping Beauty", is the love that slowly and imperiously prevails over the hatred and curse put in place by Maleficent for the terrible betrayal suffered by the loved Stefano who saved his life as a teenager. Stefano, who, like all men seduced by power and ambition, for his unbridled greed and lust for power betrays the beloved Maleficent. It is true that the worst villains, like Maleficent in fantasy, are the good guys who have suffered terribly from the betrayals suffered by the most loved people. But in the end it is also true that pure love always triumphs, as Disney tells us brilliantly, deconstructing, as in Frozen, the fable's meaning of the term: "pure love" that once again is not the one between the reckless prince and beautiful princess.
