In today's world it is rare to find films series that age like wine and gets better with any new sequel. Before Midnight, 2013 romantic drama by Richard Linklater, a sequel to 1995 Before Sunrise and 2004 Before Sunset, is one such example. Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy repeat the roles of American Jesse and Frenchwoman Celine, but this time, instead of being lovers, they are married couple with children. The plot is set in Greece during their vacation, and follows the discussion about their relationship and the apparent marital crisis. Hawke and Delpy, who, like the characters they play, matured through the years, helped Linklater by adding their own lines to the script, making Before Midnight into very intimate and authentic film. The new film also adds characters of their friends who comment on their relationship, while the talk about Greek economic crisis brings real world even closer to this simple yet charming film.
