Marvel Comics screen adaptation might look like a sure way of making money in Hollywood, but in the past it wasn’t so. One such example could be found in Daredevil, 2003 feature film adaptation of eponymous comic book. In it Ben Affleck plays Matt Murdock, blind lawyer by day and masked crime fighting vigilante by night. The plot describes complications risen by his relationship with Elektra Natchios (played by Jennifer Garner), beautiful woman who puts him in conflict with all-powerful crime lord Kingpin (played by Michael Clarke Duncan). Directed by Mark Steven Johnson and inspired by Frank Miller’s dark comic book retelling of the original, Daredevil was supposed by the darker, more violent and disturbing comic book origin story. Studios’ intereference, predictably constraining PG-13 rating and uninspired cast led by Affleck made this film bland and forgettable, even more so in comparison with Netflix television version made a decade later.
