Capsule Film Review: Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004)

in #film6 years ago (edited)

Second film in the series of popular video game adaptations has the plot set immediately after the first, although in somewhat broader location. Racoon City is infested by T-virus that turns people into carnivourous zombies, and the small group of survivors, led by disgraced policewoman Jill Valentine (played by Sienna Guillory) tries to find shelter, faced not only with zombies but also by Umbrella Corporation using the apocalypse as an opportunity to test new weapons. Directed by Alexander Witt, Apocalypse benefits from seemingly bigger budget, reflected in interesting production, bigger explosions and bodycount, but the content and story remains predictably shallow. On the other hand, fans of the original video games and zombie genre in general probably would probably enjoy this film.
