The Omen (1976)

Directed by Richard Donner. Starring Gregory Peck, Lee Remick, Harvey Stephens, Billie Whitelaw, David Warner, Martin Benson, Patrick Troughton, Holly Palance, Freda Dowie, John Stride, and Anthony Nicholls.

US ambassador Robert Thorn and his wife want nothing more than a child to complete their idyllic life. When Maria Thorn's has a still birth a priest approaches Robert with a proposal, swapping their child with one who's mother died in childbirth. Robert agrees, and decides not to tell his wife.
After this the family are surrounded with unusual and sudden deaths. Could their son be responsible?

The Omen was both a critical and financial success, nominated for two Oscars, winning one for Best Score, it was also one of the highest grossing films of 1976. Spawning three sequels, and eventually being remade in 2006, though none have been a well received.

Film folklore says the film was cursed, and given the list of unusual events that happened during production it's hard to argue it all away as coincidence.
• While they took different flights the planes of both Gregory Peck and screenwriter David Seltzer were struck by lightning on the way to the UK.
• Producer Harvey Bernhard was almost struck by lightning while filming in Rome.
• The hotel Richard Donner was staying during filming was bombed by the IRA.
• Donner was also hit by a car.
• Rottweilers hired for the film attacked their trainers
• Another plan Peck had charted to Israel, but later cancelled, crashed killing all aboard.
• One the first day of shooting several members of the crew were involved in a serious car crash.
Pretty weird I think you'll agree, particularly given the nature of the film itself.
