MSR 26.jpg

All the latest Movieland investigations from detectives Dick japowski and Joey Arizona.

Japowski's Operation Ho-ho-ho
Krampus (2015)
When the young son of a dysfunctional family rips up his letter to Santa, the family get visited by a much less jolly gentleman who makes this Christmas one they won't forget.
Mike Dougherty's second twisted holiday movie after the fun trick r treat is a bit of a let down for me, and I think it mainly just comes down to not liking any of the characters. Some fun st pieces and creatures make it worth checking out though.

Japowski's Operation Ho-ho-ho VHS Edition
A Christmas Story (1983)
Other things recorded on tape : Drop Dead Fred, Box Office America
The timeless tale of Ralphie and his quest to get the ultimate Christmas present, an official Red Ryder, carbine action, two-hundred shot range model air rifle!
A holiday must watch every year, a film that perfectly portrays the stress and excitement of childhood Christmas's.

The Arizona Christmas Files
The Bishop's Wife (1947)
A man claiming to be an Angel helps a Bishop trying to finance a new cathedral find the things that really matter.
A charming movie with some great effects, and one I didn't really care for the first time I saw it...maybe I'll have to give A Christmas Story a second chance.

The Many Views of Detective Dick Japowski
It Chapter Two (2019)
27 years after The Losers Club came together to face Pennywise, they are called back to Derry and face their past when It returns...
A man can't live on Christmas films alone and I unfortunately missed this in the cinema so was excited for more clowning around! And I loved it as much as the first one which is saying a lot. The adult counterparts are all perfectly cast and the humour is just as strong as the horror, which is truly horrific at times.
The Stephen King renaissance is alive and thriving!

The Arizona Christmas Files
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989)
The Griswald family return for another vacation based adventure, this time it's a big family staycation.
This was a Arizona family favourite growing-up, so it will always have a special place in this old detective's heart, and despite it's imperfections it's full of classic moments.

The Arizona Case Files
King Kong (1933)
Stupid white people go in search of a mythical creature, mythical creature kills most of them. The leftovers then knock out the 25ft gorilla in question, transport him half way across the world to be a sideshow attraction, seem surprised when he won't cooperate...and then kill him because he's not doing what they want.
A cracking classic to tick off the 'what do you mean you haven't seen..." list.
First watch: 4 Doughnuts
