All the latest Movieland investigations from detectives Dick japowski and Joey Arizona.

The Many Views of Detective Dick Japowski
Men at Work (1990)
Two and a half (including the pizza man) men get embroiled in a toxic waste dumping scheme after witnessing a murder.
I would watch anything with Emilio Estevez back in the day, so this was rented several times and I still enjoy his rebel spirit and banter with real life brother Mr Sheen. This is a fun rental if you don't have a problem with problematic?!

Cleanin' Up the Town: Remembering Ghostbusters (2019)
The Ghostbusters documentary for the Ghostbuster fan who thinks they know everything about Ghostbusters!
Over ten years in the making, this in depth look at the first film is a must see treat for fans of the supernatural comedy. You even get the extra with the red hair from the end of the movie! At over 2 hours this is a real achievement and the filmmaker is from Devon, so that's close enough to count as a win!*

(*for those not in the know, Movie Stakeout is based in Cornwall, England. Devon is it's only adjoining county)

The Arizona Case Files
Early Man (2018)
A tribe of Stone-agers live peacefully in their valley, that is until some over zealous Bronze-agers claim it for themselves. A plucky young neanderthal challenges the new civilisation to a football match, win and they get the valley back, lose and they're banished to the wastelands.
Critics, and more importantly the Internet have declared this as Aardman's first misfire, not up to their usual quality, I most be the exception to the rule then. Bar The Wrong Trousers I've not really cared for any Aardman animation on first viewing (my opinion tends to change drastically on a revisit). However I quite enjoyed Early Man first time around (I'll probably hate it next time).

The Arizona Case Files
Fire and Ice (1983)
The Ice Kingdom pushes more and more into the fire kingdom, but Nekron will settle for nothing but complete domination. A young tribesmen who lost his people to Nekron's warmongering teams up with a wandering warrior to rescue the fire kingdom prince.
I wanted to love this movie, Ralph Bakshi's Lord of the Rings was a staple of my childhood, so another Bakshi fantasy was an exciting prospect. Unfortunately it's a real mixed bag, for the most part it looks fantastic, but most of the characters were a little meh. There were moments where it was very exciting, but it's very distracting when everyone's wearing the least amount of clothing possible, like ridiculously so.

D3: The Mighty Ducks (1996)
The ducks get offered scholarships to a prestigious school and soon find themselves butting heads with a new coach and the other preppy Hockey team. It's going to take more than quacking and knuckle pucks this time!
With Estevez's Gordon Bombay coming back in the mix for a new Disney+ show, I realised I had never seen the final part of the original trilogy!
I generally love us versus them movies and it could be I'm not 12 anymore, but this last part felt a bit flat. Estevez is missing for a good chunk and fifty percent less hockey action, means not great, but it doesn't belong in the sin bin either.
First watch: 2.5 Doughnuts
