The beginning of your part of the story was really good, shocking actually. But, I must confess I did not like the ending that much. It satisfies certain expectation of happy ending, but I found it a bit contrived.
It was confusing to me how the "long-standing enemy, who was constantly working to hinder and ruin any of his activities and projects" bacame one who "has shown nothing but compassion and loyalty."
It is a fine story, notheless, one that leaves a clear moral lesson in favor of self-intruspection.
