Mostly About the Current Prime Minister of Finland

I usually try to avoid writing about anything that involves people stupidly pointing out things that have nothing to do with the facts that are discussed about. If someone has already made up their mind, there's nothing I can say to make them rethink or perhaps even change their mind. I try to avoid soap opera dramas, discussions about who said what to someone and how someone else interpreted it. I find myself incredibly irritated right at the start if someone comes to me saying that they heard someone else say about someone. There's no way for me to know how much of it is true, if any. I've always hated gossiping. People who spread malicious rumors and people who just can't stop talking bad about other people behind their backs are, in my opinion, small minded and usually also envious people who seek approval with information what they think is worth something. There they come with a grin on their face, laying out all their precious rumors like money in front of me thinking that now I'm all impressed and that they get me squirming with curiosity. And I couldn't care less. But I usually have to listen. And with every poisonous word they pour out, I know more about the person spreading the rumor than the one talked about.

I do enjoy telling and listening stories though. A Big fish style story where exaggeration is expected. If the original story had some rain in it, the fifth time you tell it, it was pouring rain, tenth time it was a hurricane. But there's a big difference with telling forward a funny and cheerful story or malicious rumors that you most probably wouldn't have the guts to say in front of the person you are talking about.

Bearing that in mind, I have to say that I hate talking about politics. The word has a terrible ring in my ear. Although the meaning...

Politics is a set of activities associated with the governance of a country, state or an area. It involves making decisions that apply to groups of members.

...is wider than my mind is fixated on, I do tend to switch channel or do something else and not listen whenever politic related news are on the TV. They just most of the time irritate me.

Why is that? Because...

I try to avoid soap opera dramas, discussions about who said what to someone and how someone else interpreted it.

Constant bickering, people not respecting each other, clinging on things that do not matter, pushing your agenda forwards based on false information and overall being really childish and acting like idiots. Some just are selfish little brats. Usually they are the most loudest ones. And as soon as good reasons run out, it's time for them to use everything else imaginable. Fallacious argumentation, attacking the character, bullying.

I do understand that it's a hard thing to swallow if you or your party has lost the election. Or if you are in the opposition and there's just barely over half on the other side. I understand that you would like to use every chance you get to get yourself elected sooner than when it's actually time for the next elections. But what I do not understand is that you just can not accept your loss and shut up about the subject. Admit your defeat, concentrate on working and let other people around you also work in peace. Making decisions about something else than trying to overthrow those who are there where you would have wanted to be. You just can not let them do their jobs and either support or give them criticisms about the things that have to be done for the well being of the state and it's citizens. You just have to oppose them in every turn justifying it with your made up fact that they originally should have not been elected because they are not suitable for the job. Because they are not you.

Sanna Marin, Prime Minister of Finland since December 10th 2019.

As soon as she became the Prime Minister, news articles and people talking in social media sites dug out everything and thought they knew everything about her. And as always, not all that was written about her were good or flattering. What ever the topic on those articles try to be, it's mainly focused on her age, gender and family background. Sanna Marin is the youngest Prime Minister in the world. But for some, her age or gender seems to be a red flag that in their minds erases everything else that she is, does or says. Those people show their utter contempt in their statements about Sanna Marin. I'm not going to link any of those news here.

I am not going to link her Instagram profile here either. If you are curious, the account is really easy to find. Instagram has perfect photos of beautiful people with perfect lives. As it should be because my guess is that 90% of the people following other people there, want to see beautiful photos about perfect lives. But as I said, I'm not going to link her profile or photos of her here because I don't want to focus on facts that are insignificant. How someone looks in photos or real life has nothing to do with the fact if they are good people or right for the job they are in. Women and especially young women are told plenty enough times to smile so that they would look pleasant or be more beautiful. I am not going to foster that ill habit.

And as for her perfect life, one of the leaders of Finland, anything else than nice and perfect photos of her life would be a pretty awful choice. The facts are that she is fairly young for a Prime minister. And that she is a woman. So she needs to act extra polished and be perfect. As every politician should be. However there are plenty of politicians who have made terrible mistakes in their personal and political life and continue acting horribly but they are eventually forgiven or their behavior is tolerated. They should be role models, but aren't. Sad fact is that Sanna Marin can not be anything but perfect because people expect her to be perfect. If she isn't, that will be used against her. I'm sure you have heard at least once in your life of a teacher talk about not daring to buy just one beer from the local store where the parents of the kids they teach might see and recognize them. Yes. That problem. One beer and the teacher must be an alcoholic. Role model and people not understanding. Haters using that.

So what is left? What should we concentrate on? Her skills, education and experience. Things that matter. As I already said she is a role model and good one to be frank.

She graduated from the University of Tampere with a Master of Administrative Sciences in 2017.
Marin joined the Social Democratic Youth in 2006 and served as its first Vice President from 2010 to 2012.

In the 2012 elections, she was elected to the City Council of Tampere at the age of 27 which was a breakthrough moment in her political career. She was the chairperson of the City Council from 2013 to 2017. In 2017, she was re-elected to the City Council. She is also a member of the Assembly of the Council of Tampere Region. She was also a member of the Pirkanmaa Regional Council from 2013 to 2016.

Marin was elected second deputy chairperson of the Social Democratic Party in 2014. In 2015 at the age of 30, she was elected to the Parliament of Finland as a MP from the electoral district of Pirkanmaa. Four years later, she was re-elected. On 6 June 2019, she became the Minister of Transport and Communications.

When she was the chairperson of Tampere City Council, tramline was one of the ongoing big development projects. Most people supported and still support better public transport along with the tramline. But there were those who didn't. And still don't. Who think that tramline is not the solution to help a growing city. And then there were those clowns who thought that it would be a good idea to drag the decision making of the tramline every way possible.

Sanna Marin is the chairperson in this video. She's patient and determined. Clear in her words. Polite but firm. She clearly has experience in these kind of situations and that combining with her expertise is an excellent combination.

This video and the meeting was about three years ago. Today the first part of the tramline is almost finished. Only about a year or year and a half and it's ready for passengers.

Rotten gem picks from the video:

Why discussion is futile?
"I have already made up my mind. Don't confuse me with facts or reason."

Why oppose the tramline?
"And the tram being silent... speaking of accessibility deaf people will not hear it coming."

Solid.

This last photo, you may recognize couple Steemians there. Just to say out loud, the Steemians photographed here are awesome people and do not have anything to do with the lousy character qualities that I've described earlier. I just wanted to use this photo because it has tram tracks in it, it was taken at Tampere and there are Steemians there. :)

Seems like she gets things done. What else do they want?

It may be that some, like I do, expect her to do her job, but the rest of the politicians and ordinary people, I have no idea what they want. What do people generally want? To be heard? To things go their way? For people to pat their backs and tell them what good civil servants and concerned humans they have been? To be one of those who people always listen when they talk and talk and talk and... like to listen their own voice. Money? More money? Gold? World dominance?
