It's been very dry in Finland for over a month and a half. We haven't had but pitiful drizzle on a couple of occasions before today. I'm loathe to think about the upcoming water bill caused by having to water the lawn and the flowerbeds last month and the past three weeks. May was about 4-5 C warmer than average according to the Finnish Meteorological Institute. Now the big spigot in the sky seems to have opened in earnest. It's been raining substantially for last couple of hours. Very good!

Only the surface soil is dry. There was a lot of snow in the winter and it only started to melt in the first days of April. April was pretty normal when it comes to rainfall. If you'd dig a meter deep, you'd encounter wet soil. But topsoil is quite dry. Also, we've been watering the lawn constantly.
I'm sorry for visiting you so late @markkujantunen but here also began the rains and as always happens on this date, my internet and electrical start to fail at least yesterday I was without internet 1 full day and part of this, well very nice cool garden, your wife did a awesome job with a little help from you.

Hi Markku. Rain is needed and it just freshens the place up. You have had a good summer so far and have been very lucky with the weather. I can remember the one summer in England we had less than a week of sunshine.
Your back garden is looking good and can't see the dandelions any more.
