Fire problems: A day at work Part 2

in #fire6 years ago

So here we go again, another fire case........sadly.

In Fire problems Part 1, the fire broke out in Jahi II at a market place due to gas explosion from a gas cylinder at a gas shop leaving 23 people criticaly hospitalized with injuries.

A few weeks later, there was another fire case at Nyanya residential Area 'F'. The fire occurred on a Sunday evening due to electrical mishap.IMG_20180313_122113.jpgIMG_20180313_122023.jpg
According to the first victim who noticed the fire first, said the fire began from her room while everybody in the house was at the parlor watching TV. She perceived smoke coming from the room only to rush in and find out the fire had reached the ceiling in the room. She quickly raised an alarm for help, which alerted people to come to her aid, but were unable to stop the fire as it consumed 6 houses until the fire service responded, and got to the scene to put out the fire. Although no life was lost, properties were lost and 6 families were rendered homeless that sunday.

From my assessment the houses were connected to one another which enhanced the spread of the fire, and the surroundings was also littered with different materials (wood, electric wires, clothes and dirt).

This fire spread could have been prevented with a good fire extinguisher (Dry Chemical Powder) and proper good housekeeping which would have cost far less than the loss of properties of 6 families.

So once again I it goes to say,
If Safety is Expensive,
Try Accident.

Stay Safe.
