I just joined steemit. Bought some steem power looks promising. I am very interested in what this social network will become. What do you see for the future of steemit?

Welcome to Steemit! It has a bright future. It is not quite like other social networks. The management like us to self manage, and we are somewhat inexperienced in that department. A few heated debates occur.
For those that don't get drawn in by drama, it's a peaceful place for the most part. :-)
Thanks for the welcome! Glad to see how quick people responded. Looking at the price for steem power and steem in general was afraid it may be dying out.
And nothing wrong with a lil drama haha.
The price is going down due to a hard fork a few months back which decreased the time limit for people to 'power down' their Steem Power and turn it into 'liquid' Steem. This has had some downward pressure on the price. There are also some 'power downs' due from the big Steemit accounts held by the company founders which could drive it down further.
Generally this is seen as one of the best times to buy in cheap before the price goes back up again.
(All financial decisions should be made with careful consideration ;-) )
What brought you here?
The idealogy of steemit seems very promising. Plus I wanted to join like minded individuals in hopes of learning a vast amount of knowledge about cryptos. Eventually i do want to start a brokerage here in FL.
Excellent! If you feel the need to talk to people directly there is a community voice chat server run by @steemspeak at this address https://discord.gg/qbrdCPU where you can talk to people either in text chat or via voice if you wish to get a more dimensional idea of who you are speaking to. Have fun!
Hi! Welcome on Steemit! :)
if you would like to to learn about cryptos, then allow me to recommend you few accounts which are worth to follow:
@kingscrown - post about news from crypto-currencies world
@marketingmonk - news about crypto + intresting discussion in form video
@heiditravels - heidi has a show "Crypto Tips"
@themerkle - official and quite new account of http://themerkle.com/
of course you should also consider following few account which are really important to people on this platform:
@dantheman - profile of Dan Larimer, founder and creator of Steemit (greatest crypto ever! ;P)
@ned - CEO and co-founder of Steemit
@steemitblog - official blog of Steemit
Some tips for the uninitiated.
The use of the Steemit tag for issues not related directly to Steemit is generally discouraged.
Most introduction posts use the tag #introduceyourself . I would advise you browse that category and see what people have done beforehand by way of introductions and see if you want to craft a good post for the job.
That's just a few things to help you get started that I noticed. :-D
Thanks. Yeah this interface can be a bit unforgiving still learning whats what here.
