Using Elijah as a case study in this lesson, We have seen cases in the Bible how righteous men prayed and something happened immediately. Its pays to be righteous no matter how this current sinful world introduce us to sin everyday. Dont allow the sinful world to lure you into sin (2 Corinthians 13:5) Resist the devil and he will flee in many ways. (James 4:5-7).
When you resist the devil, be aware that he is coming back with more thoughts, the only thing that can tackle devil and scare him away from you for a while is the word of God in your heart coming out of your mouth when you needed it.
Like every "righteous man" (James 5:16), Elijah sought to align his life with the promises and threats of God's covenant (which is essentially what "righteousness" means in the Old Testament: being aligned with the Lord's covenant) . He lived his life in the light of the covenant that God had made, so he clung to his threats of judgment in prayer, as well as to his promises of blessing.

This, then, is the prayer of faith: ask God to fulfill what he promised in his Word. That promise is the only basis of our confidence in asking. Such trust is not "generated" from within our emotional life; rather, it is given and sustained by what God has already said in Scripture.
True "righteous" men and women of faith know the value of the promises of their heavenly Father. They approach Him, like a child to their loving human father, knowing that if they can tell their earthly father: "But, Dad, you promised ...", they can also insist on asking and trusting that they will keep their word. How much more our heavenly Father, who has given his Son for our salvation! We have the best reason to trust that He hears our prayers. We do not need any other.
