RE: ADSactly Folklore: When Giants Roamed the Earth (Part4)

in #folklore5 years ago

Very interesting this series on giants, @ladyrebecca. It's hard to imagine that American Indians, including Mexicans, have been giants; especially because the natives of this area are generally of very short stature. If we read these Aztec legends we will find that the giants are widely mentioned in antiquity, and not only are they considered as divine or gods, but it is said that some of them, like Tzilacatzin, were real, flesh and blood Indians. I remember that years ago, this legend had worldwide resonance about the Aztecs supposedly predicting the end of the world. Let's remember that the Aztecs managed to reach a high degree of cultural and technological sophistication. Proof of this is the pyramid you mention, so many people said that thanks to these mysterious giants, who were also called as a kind of "gods", they reached that perfection. Well, the sacrifices and how bloodthirsty they were also came to light, but that's a story for another post. Thanks for sharing, @ladyrebecca ;) greetings

My knowledge of South America is less extensive than yours, that's for sure, but I was also thinking about the stature of its present day inhabitants. On the other hand, if you think of the people of Northern Europe, the modern Vikings, imagine how tall the giants in Norse mythology must have been.
Undeniably, the ancient people of the South American continent must have been very sophisticated - I find their pyramids far more intriguing than the Egyptian ones.
