What is the font for you? Means of transmission of textual information? In fact, a font is a graphic representation of letters and signs united by one style and composition.
At the same time, the font is a complex concept that combines many characteristics:

  • baseline - an imaginary line, passing the bottom edge of the main character element;
  • size - the size of the plane in which the symbol is placed;
  • width - the font can be narrow, normal or wide;
  • Inscription - differs by its saturation, proportions, contrast and slope;
  • contrast - determined by the ratio of the thickness of the connecting and the main symbol strokes;
  • Headset - the combination of fonts, different in size, but identical in nature drawing;
  • serifs - small elements on the endings of the strokes of the symbol;
  • completeness - the presence of all the characters required for a text set;
  • kerning - changing the width of the space for specific letter pairs;
  • trekking - the amount of space between the characters.

In the modern world, fonts have long gone beyond the transmission of only textual information. They, due to their diversity, influence the view of the reader, as well as his emotions.

Fonts very often are part of a graphic image, and are perceived inseparably from it. They can be found in printing products, in advertising, and, of course, on web pages. The variety of their forms and means of image allows you to manipulate them exactly as far as the imagination and imagination of the designer is enough.

Now there are many sets of fonts that are attached to the corresponding software as a standard application. Or there is an opportunity to download certain author's font sets from the World Wide Web. But the real designer, in the process of creating a new masterpiece, without even hesitation, invents his own font, which can successfully emphasize the main idea of the work, or even become its main element.

So decide for yourself where and how to use the font, but remember its unlimited properties.
