GREEN SMOOTHIE OF THE DAY: Tropical Peanut Butter Morning Twister 🌴🥜🌿

in #food6 years ago

Good morning steemit family. How are you all today? At the moment we are feeling the effects of La Niña. La Niña is a coupled ocean-atmosphere phenomenon that is the counterpart of El Niño.

During a period of La Niña, the sea surface temperature across the equatorial Eastern Central Pacific Ocean will be lower than normal by 3 to 5 °C, resulting in cooler temperatures and a lot of rain. Though it supposed to be dry season here in Cambodia we get tropical heavy rains nearly every day or night.

Though it's still ok now, farmers and people fear major floods and loss of crops. Let's hope it doesn't come to that. But what can we do against the power of Mother Earth? Not much, right. So let's start the day with this delicious drink and see how the weather evolves in the coming days or even weeks.

Tropical Peanut Butter Morning Twister 🌴🥜🌿

Ingredients (serves 2 for breakfast)

  • 1 carrot, peeled and roughly chopped
  • 3 big leaves Chinese cabbage (napa cabbage)
  • 2 passion fruits
  • 1 mango
  • 1.5 cup papaya chunks
  • 1-2 tbsp peanut butter (I used homemade)
  • 2 tbsp hemp hearts
  • 1 tbsp goji berries
  • 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves
  • Toppings: coconut flakes, goji berries, mulberries and cranberries
  • Water as needed

Directions

  1. Blend Chinese cabbage and water until smooth. Add the remaining ingredients and blend again. If the smoothie is too thick for you, add more liquid base and blend again. If you have a high-speed blender you can blend everything at once.
  2. Optional: Top with superfoods/topping you like.

Enjoy the rest of this beautiful week!

Where can I get Chinese cabbage?

Every market or supermarket should have it... looks like this
