"STEEMIT CULINARY CHALLENGE #39: Vegan and Quick Pudding From Millet." My #2 entry for my series: MILLET CAN BE EVERYTHING!πŸ˜ŠπŸ’™

in #food β€’ 7 years ago

Hey, hey, heyyyyy my friends!

I hope You're well!😊

Specialy for my entry for SCC, where in this week the topic is: Baby food I decided to make Delicious and full of nutritions PUDDING FROM MILLET. Millet itself is really healthy. It is non-alergic and also doeasn't contain gluten. It is also a treatment for runny nose because it decreases mucositis. But this examples are only surrogate of nutritions included in it. And in combination with fruits that makes it the best food for all lovely babies! (okay maybe not only for babies πŸ˜†).πŸ‘ΆπŸ˜
This recipe is really easy to do, because you don't need that much time, only aroud 20 minutes to overcook millet and 5 minutes for blending. So that's why I decided to combine two series at once! πŸ™Š For Steemit Culinary Challenge and for my series Millet can be everything! So that means it's my 3rd entry for SCC and my 2nd part of my millet series! πŸ€—Here you can find my first part of my series: Vegan Butter from Millet. And that was the best thing that I even made in my life!😍So it was a good start of my series.
So, without further ado, we can start!

For preparing Pudding (for you and/or more than one baby😁)You will need:

  • 130 g of millet
  • 500 ml of rice milk (I used rice milk because it is natural sweet thanks contained salt in it, but you can also use your favourite or water)
  • 2 tsp of coconut oil
  • juice and zest from a half lemon
  • i also added a little bit of vanilla extract (if you want you can use vanilla pod)
  • fruit on top (i choose raspberries, blueberries and pomegranate)

Preparing

  • rinse your millet on strainer by water stream

  • put washed millet into pot and roast it a bit till lovely smell, mix it all that time

  • start added milk into millet and cook together untill it will be overcooked (around 20 minutes), still mix it, otherwise milet start burning!

  • into cooking millet add coconut oil

  • after cooking, put overcooked millet into vessel, add lemon zest and juice, vanilla extract (or pod). Start blending it until it becomes smooth

  • move millet from vessel to little bowl, add on top fruit and eat up when it's still warm! It is the best in this form.😍

I hope that You guys enjoy my post about this tasty pudding from millet. You can let me know in comment what you think!πŸ˜‹

Looks really tasty! Thanks for sharing :)

Thank you! :)

You are welcome! Keep up the good work :)

YUM! It's kinda like a nice version of rice pudding! I say nice version because I was never a fan of rice pudding.... but I LOVE millet, and have fed it to my son ever since weaning him onto solid foods, and he's always been fine with it. Like you explain it's easy to digest and easy to prepare, so a perfect choice for baby food. As it's a mild taste it can be mixed with just about anything, and I love what you've done with it here @babettxx.

It's good you've shown a non-dairy milk can be used, as dairy intolerance is very common with infants. I imagine the overall flavour of this food to be a little but no too sweet (I guess it becomes sweeter the more berries you top it with!) which is perfect, as babies haven't yet become crazy about sweet things! It will be a nice texture too as millet is much softer than rice, so infants get used to a more lumpy texture without having to chew much. Very nutritious and a satiating meal too. Another lovely presented entry, and I wish you another lot of good luck!

Thank you! I hope that every baby will like it! :) I gave it to my little cousins and they loved it(they are 1 year old so no babies but still! :D) And yes, it's not too sweet i got really sensitive to sweet foods after I stopped eating sugar :)

Thank you again!

Mhm this looks delicious!

Good luck

Thank You! :)))

I love the fact that you combined the steemit culinary challenge with your millet series.

It is perfect to give to a baby. Adding the rice milk is great because babies like the sweet taste.

Great entry @babettxx! :)

Thank you! I also very like sweet taste hihihi 😁 and I fell in love in rice milk! For me this taste it's very soft and little sweet so I prefer this than soy milk which I can't drinkin this directly from glass. :)

For me it is the same. :D Rice milk on its own is great whereas soy milk needs an awful amount of sugar to be enjoyable on its own.

Yes haha! But you need to check (when you pick "milk") that this kind of drinks don't have any added sugar. Fortunately, lately I found this rice milk with great composition :)

Yes that is right. Where I live most of the β€œmilkβ€œ from cereals is made without sugar. But you still need to check it if it is something you do not want in your diet.

Yeah, that's true.

Just discovered coconut oil. Good stuff to replace regular cooking oil. Makes food taste much better to me.

You need to remember that they are two kinds of coconut oil. Rafined oil - is very good replace for normal oil for frying and non-rafined are good only when you using this like me, in dessert, smoothies or something cooldness. I love this for that flavour :)

How do you tell if it's refined or not. I looked on the label and it doesn't say.

Non-rafined oil have smell and taste of coconut. And rafined doesn't have any smell and taste. They have the same form so you need to check labels.

Thank you.

Really lovely recipe, looking so tempting! We make Indian version of it but basics are same.
Thanks for sharing !

And it is! Thank you for your comment :)

Simple and good. Porridge with berries and fruits is our favorite breakfast. Pretty often I cook such a puddle, the truth is the milk of cows. Good luck.

Thank you :)
