Food That's As Addictive As Cocaine

in #food5 years ago

Have you ever tried to stop eating garbage food for awhile only to find that giving up your favorite snacks can sometimes be next to impossible? We see people who are significantly overweight and we might tell ourselves, "why can't they just eat healthy"? Why can't they just exercise and make better choices? But sometimes it's not that easy.

Food companies spend millions of dollars on trying to conjure the most addictive recipes that they can come up with, that keep you coming back for more.

From pulverizing salt to make it hit taste buds harder and faster, to experimenting with the shape and distribution of fat globules that effect absorption rate, there are teams of scientists that have been employed to help make this possible. Your favorite foods that you find yourself slightly addicted to are addicting for a reason.

Processed food is arguably designed to make you hungrier and to leave you feeling empty.

When we eat a big meal that's full of unhealthy ingredients it isn't going to fill us up, because the body isn't getting what it needs. So it's common for people to find themselves still craving more even after they've finished eating. These food companies want to create super-users.

Many of us have been told what's healthy and what's not, for the most part many of us do know better than to assume that consuming large amounts of highly-processed foods is going to be good for us, but stopping is easier said than done. These food items still dominate the shelves today and millions of people are suffering with obesity and a myriad of digestive illnesses.

Foods like pizza, chocolate, french fries, have been found to be among the most addictive food items on the market.

Popular food items like burgers, pizza, and fries etc, have been found to be among the most addictive food items on the market. Researchers have noted that some individuals might be more sensitive to the addictive or rewarding properties of these foods and that is why some people struggle more than others with trying to give them up.

Previous research has shown that some of these foods might be just as addictive as cocaine or heroin.

Although there are some people do have success going cold turkey and taking on that battle, for others it's going to be a more arduous process. Don't feel down on yourself if you've tried, perhaps many times, to cut out the junk and failed, because trying to overcome something like that, akin to a drug addiction, on your own, isn't easy.

They put ... chemical concotions, into foods that are sooo potent, that less than 1 drop is in your burger. It doesn't need to be on the label because its such a small amount. It often contains aborted fetal tissue. And THE one chemical compound that is "the taste" of something we crave. It is dastardly what these big corporations do.

The first thing that came to mind was a quip a friend made when someone he knew was going on and on about the health benefits of eating vegan: "Yup, beer and french fries with ketchup are vegan...."

I'm grateful to have been raised on food we pretty much grew ourselves, and fresh meats from local farms. I never had any interest in sodas and most fast food tastes gross to me... the only exception being KFC in the morning when I have a hangover...

Doesn't surprise me that fast food is engineered to make people addicted....

Fries are the best, YUM, cheers mate thanks for making me hungry, Lol.

Fat and sugar is the magic combination that people can't resist. Large amounts of oil and sugar are put in most processed foods. Too much oil kills the brain, too much sugar causes diabetes and other degenerative disease. Sugar is a highly addictive drug and is consumed in extreme excess by many people and is behind much of the obesity in our society. Whats amazing is that people lack the willpower to stop eating whats slowly killing them! Thanks for all your support @doitvoluntarily

Anything with sugar or starches that turn into sugar.

100% truth
food is a legal drug
veeeery complicated to win food habbits
do you have any bad foodhabbits?:)

trying to ✂ that sugar 😂

No sugar at all? Even substitutes? It is napoleon's plans (we say so about Smth global and very self-confident:)

I am totally leery of the big food companies and their propagation of the overeating to fleece the general public. It is a self fulfilling prophecy when you can turn people to unhealthy eating and then have them slowly get hooked on a diet they can’t break free from.

What I find despicable is the high fructose soft drinks loaded with caffeine and salt to make you drink more.

I take is as a parenting win that we have none of this at home and a can of coke that finds its way into our fridge will just stay there for a couple months.
