RE: Comfort Food

It's been decades since I've had Skyline. I bet pretty much any Cincinnati chili recipe you make at home would be a few levels above though just because Skyline's ingredients probably aren't the best. I haven't heard of "over the top chili". I'll be looking into that today!

Sort:

That makes sense. I was just figuring Skyline is probably the most accessible to me to try it out without needing to make a full batch myself. Though I have never really had a chili I didn't like. I mean, I used to eat Hormell out of the can all the time when I was a kid.

It would definitely give you an idea if you'd like it or not. That would probably make sense to make sure it's something that would be worth making. We loved the canned chili when we were kids. It tastes so salty now!

I can only imagine! I haven't had it since I was much younger!

Haha, yep, that's it!

I think I need a Lipitor just reading that. : )

Haha, right!? People say it's not that bad if you use lean meat, but I just don't know. I'm sure you could also smoke the beef separate like a meatloaf, then just take the meat with the fat drained off and crumble that up to put in the chili.

Yeah, that method would transfer just as much flavor. I do something similar with collard greens. I use a smoked turkey leg instead of fatty salt pork. None of the flavor is sacrificed and there's more edible protein in the greens.
