Why is potassium a must in every day’s food?

This is about potassium and its functionality. Potassium can be found in many vegetables and food items. So how much potassium is needed per day? It’s about 5000mg. But are we meeting that number?

First of all, Potassium is an essential electrolyte. So what is an electrolyte and what it does to our body? Electrolytes help minerals to conduct electricity in the body. Electrolytes such as sodium, potassium, calcium etc. help in different ways. But potassium among all the electrolytes is a requisite in our body. We need more potassium in our daily life. So we have to consume a lot of potassium rich foods every day. Here I will discuss why potassium is a must.

There are many pumps in our body called sodium potassium pumps which are generally found on some cells with a protein enzyme called pump and potassium, sodium appears on the surface of the cell. This pump generates electricity to move items to go into the cell with pumping out the sodium ions and pumping in the potassium with the help of ATP. Therefore, it takes a lot of energy to work on that.

On the other hand, we have another pump that is hydrogen potassium pump that helps our body to digest and deals with acids. So potassium is everywhere, they are in many places like a nervous system, muscles. These pumps are essential in exchanging nutrition, allowing minerals to transport and many.

So there are major advantages of potassium intake such as it helps with muscle contraction and relaxation as it allows calcium a mineral to go into the cell. They electrically charge the cell. Furthermore, our energy is to some extent controlled by the pumps with potassium. And the hydration in our body is often controlled by the pump.

In short, potassium is an essential mineral in our body as it prevents sodium in many different ways. However, high protein and low potassium are required for people who are undergoing diagnosis.
