SESAME SEEDS HAVE SURPRISING BENEFITS

MY IMPRESSION

You sometimes wonder what are those tiny seeds sprinkled at the top of a burger bun, yummy dish, cookies or even pastries and biscuits, then think of them as mere garnish. Even myself, I overlooked and got surprised with its wonderful benefits in our diet. When I first tasted this, I found the seeds nutty in flavor and they go well with "Crunchy Binangkal" (a Filipino Pastry) and Steaks.



THE ORIGIN

Sesame Seeds came from a plant called SESAMUM which had been one of those ancient plants thousands years ago. This seeds were said to be originated from Africa and India. Sesame seeds were often used in Hindu Traditions. It was known at that time that whoever consumes Sesame Seeds acquires Immortality and Power. Due to its aromatic smell, it was even processed and made into expensive perfume during the ancient times where Kings and Queens ruled the world. In Egypt, Its oily consistency were used to be manufactured into shampoo to maintain the hair moisture.



WHAT IT IS MADE OF

Sesame seeds contain several vitamins and minerals, these are: Fiber, Vitamin B1, Selenium, Molybdenum, Zinc, Iron, Phosphorous, Magnesium, Manganese, Calcium and Copper.

Copper is mostly found on these seeds that gives best benefits to our body.

And here are the surprising benefits of Sesame Seeds:

REDUCE INFLAMMATION

There are a lot of foods that contributes to relief in any kind of body inflammation but these seeds have the most amount of anti-inflammatory elements. Sesame seeds are very rich in element called Copper that has anti inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties. It strengthen the connective tissues on our joints thus prevents the formation of Rheumatoid Arthritis. It also eases muscle pain because it helps in restoring torn muscles at the same time relieves swelling and inflammation. Its oil (Sesame Oil) is even used as a liniment / topical oil on arthritic joints.

Furthermore, Copper also aides in the proper metabolism of Iron that is very essential in forming Hemoglobin, thus prevents Anemia.

Sesame seeds are very rich also in Protein, which is very essential in muscle and tissue repair. It maintains the optimum metabolism and absorption of nutrients. It keeps our muscles healthy and bulky because it improves cell growth and development.

its oil serves as antibacterial that prevents oral and throat infections.


KEEPS SKIN, NAIL AND HAIR HEALTHY

Zinc is one of the richest elements in Sesame seeds that forms and regenerates collagen. This is a good food that prevents alopecia, skin disease and skin ulcers. Zinc also keeps our skin cells young and well-hydrated.


CAUTION

Sesame seeds are indeed healthy condiments however there are still things to consider when is being consumed too much. Excessive intake of Sesame seeds can cause Gastro-intestinal tract irritation thus, can cause severe diarrhea.
