Meat with dumplings is a very tasty and delicious dish . It can be served as a meal with vegetables.
Ingredients:
Meat - 1 lbs
Margarine or cooking oil - 2 dsp
Shallots finely sliced - 1/2 c
Pepper corns - 16
Onion finely sliced - 1/2 c
Shallots finely chopped - 2
Garlic cloves -3
Ginger finely chopped -1 " piece
Cinnamon - 2 pieces
Cloves -4
Cardamom - 2
Vinegar - 1 dsp
coconut milk - 1 - 1 1/2 c
Salt - to taste
Dumplings:
White flour -1/2 c
Baking powder -1 1/2 t
Butter or margarine -1 dsp
Salt a pinch
finely chopped onion - 1 t
Water -1- 1 1/2 tbsp
Mashed potato (optional) - 1 T
Method:
Clean and wipe the meat and cut into thin slices.
Grind pepper,garlic shallot and salt into a paste and mix it with meat and keep for an hour.
Fry the finely sliced onion in the fat until golden brown and take it out.
Put the coarsely ground spices into the fat,stir and add the meat.
When the liquid from the meat starts coming out,add shallots ,ginger and vinegar and cook the meat .
When the gravy starts thickening,add coconut milk and keep fire low.
When the meat is cooked and gravy thickened,add the dumplings into it.
Dumplings:
Sieve the dry ingredients together and rub the fat into it , then add chopped onion ( if needed, mashed potato can be added at this stage)and add water little by little and make a smooth dough.
Divide the dough and make small balls .
Heat water with salt ,when the water starts boiling, put the balls in and cook for 5-7 mins.
Drain the water and put the dumplings in the meat and cook for a few minutes.
Pour the contents in a serving dish and garnish with fried onions.
This dish can be served with cooked vegetables.
