Since leather fruit is a dehydrated form of different fruits without any added chemicals, it's a pretty healthy food. Fruit leather is rich with vitamin A and B and minerals like potassium and calcium.

Preparing it doesn't take much time and effort, but if you don't feel like making it yourself or you feel like you are going to mess it up, ordering it from Amazon is always an option :)

Ingredients

Plums or any other kind of fruits - 1 Kilogram or 2.2 Pounds

Salt - 2 teaspoons

Water - 2 glasses

How to prepare

First wash the plums and put them in a pot, add water and salt to it and put the pot on a low flame to cook slowly and stir it from time to time.

Don't put the lid on because plums can overflow and dirty your stove. The more time with less temperature it takes, the better your fruit leather is going to turn out.

After 2 hours, the plums should be fully cooked and its juice should be very concentrated. Now you should turn off the stove and let it cool off a bit, then run it through a fine mesh colander and into another pot. When running it through the colander, use a spatula to squish the plums inside to separate the pit and peel from it to pour an even and uniform lava like paste into the pot.

Cover a tray with plastic sheet and pour the paste on it and spread it evenly. The fruit leather should be 8 mm (0.3 inch) thick or it will mold.

Now place the tray under direct sunlight for it to dry completely.

After 2 days your delicious fruit leather is ready. Pull another plastic sheet over it and squeeze until it sticks to the fruit leather. Now you can cut the fruit leather into different size and shapes and store it in fridge, freezer or in a cold and dry cabinet for a long time.

Notes

1- To make sour leather fruit, sour fruits such as plums, apricots, kiwi, greengage, raspberries and barberry can be used. And for making sweet leather fruit you can use apples or pears.

2- You can also use the squished or leftover fruits in your fridge to make this wonderful snack.

3- Because of high acidity, kiwi alone cannot be used to make leather fruit and it should be mixed with other fruits like plum.

So i hope you enjoyed this recipe. I am terribly sorry if I made any language related mistake, as i mentioned in my last topic, English isn't my native language. Leather fruit is a pretty common snack in my country so i wanted to share it with you guys as well.
