Coming from China
Although meatballs are found in Indonesia, it turns out that these foods are not from Indonesia. Meatballs were first made in the 17th century in China in the Ming Dynasty era. The name of the meatballs itself is taken from the Hokkien language which means ground pork. Because it entered Indonesia where the majority of the people were Muslims, meat for meatballs was changed to beef, fish, shrimp, or chicken.
