AFRICAN DELICACY ,
A DELICIOUS MEAL CALLED AFRICAN SALAD (ABACHA).
Locally known as abacha, it is a delicious meal and food to serve and easy to prepare without going through the rigorous processing procedures.
However, it is a delight of the people of western part of the African continent, south east Nigeria in particular. There are different methods and ingredients used in making or processing of these meal depending on the individuals choice.

                              NUTRITIONAL VALUE /CONTENT.
  • Its main ingredients is cassava which makes it very rich in carbohydrates,
    *A good source of energy.
    *Very rich in protein.
    *Very rich in fats/ oil.
    *Good source of vitamins / minerals.
    ECONOMIC IMPACT TO THE SELLERS.
    Basically, because of the high level of unemployment and poverty ravaging the African continent, Nigeria in quote. A lot of women have found succor in the preparation and selling of these kind of food basically to close the gap for good food in their respective areas and make some money at the long run.
    Majorly, in these food trading , the women is leading in this trade which have made it the women business.
    CULTURAL IMPORTANCE OF THESE KIND OF DELICACY TO A TRIBE IN NIGERIA CALLED THE IGBO TRIBE.
    The Igbo’s are one of the major tribes in Nigeria , geographically situated at the south eastern part of Nigeria . They are culturally driven group of people. During meetings, traditional wedding ceremonies, village leader’s enthronement and other traditional ceremonies, they prefer to eat or serve this delicacy to their quests.
    INGREDIENTS FOR PREPARING THIS MEAL.
    *WELL PROCESSED CASSAVA
    *SLICED CASSAVA.
    *1 TEASPOON OF SALT.
    *2 CUBES OF COOKING SEASONING FLAVOUR.
    *10 TEASPOON OF RED PALM OIL .
    *3 TEA SPOON OF GROUND CRAFISH.
    *3 BUDS OF SLICED GARDEN EGG FRUIT.
    *10 SLICED SPINACH LEAVES ie GARDEN EGG LEAVES/
    *1/2 (half) TEASPOON OF PEPPER.
    *MEATS , COOKED ONES.
    *SMOKED or DRIED FISH COOKES, COOKED ONE.
    *2 TEASPOON OF POWDERED POTASH.
    *1 TEASPOON OF GROUND EHU SEED ( CALABASH NUTMEG).

              HOW TO PREPARE IT
  • Buy a cassava that has been harvested .
    *Remove the sand and wash it.
    *peal the outer cover of the cassava.
    *Put it in a pot with water and cook for 15- 20 minutes.
    *Slice or cut the cassava to the sizes you prefer.
    *Bring a big bowl or pot.
    *Add the red palm oil you have.
    *Add all your ingredients together.
    *Stir them together in order to mix well.
    *Add the sliced cassava into the bowl.
    *Put it on fire to cook for 5 –6 minutes.
    *Bring down and serve.
    *Add your sliced onions, garden egg leaves on top of the served food.
