Predicted Winners of Europe’s Top Leagues

in #football6 years ago (edited)

Happy new month everyone. It’s March already and I do hope this month brings you all the joy you deserve.
Also, the start of march marks the beginning of the end for most top leagues accross Europe. Some of these league have winners in waiting while others have an ongoing battle among amongst teams for the top prize.
Generally, the curtains on leagues accross Europe come down between the end of next month (April) and the start of May so here’s the top 5 Leagues and their predicted winners.

SPANISH LA LIGA
Predicted winners: F.C. Barcelona

Barcelona have had an astonishing season so far, they remain undefeated after 26 games and have Lionel Messi in destructive form. However they aren’t guaranteed league title just yet, Atletico Madrid are just 5 points behind in second and both teams will lock horns at the Camp Nou this Sunday. You get the feeling that with Griezmann in top form, Atletico might fancy thier chances of winning there. However, I do expect Barcelona to eventually win the league, mainly because they’re in a strong position already, a position they just aren’t capable of loosing.

ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE
Predicted winners: Manchester City

This is an easy one to predict due to the excellence and consistency of Manchester City FC. They currently have a seemingly unassailable 16 point lead over neighbours and nearest challengers, Manchester United. Guardiola’s men have offered viewers astounding aesthetics on the pitch and it wil take a monumental slip for them to give away the title at this stage on the season

ITALIAN SERIE A
Predicted winners: Juventus

This is by far the toughest to decide amongst Europe’s “big five” leagues. Napoli may currently be 4 points ahead of defending champions, Juventus; but the Bianconeri have a game in hand. These two will still meet up later in April in a tie that should produce fireworks but I predict Juventus to triumph that day and at the season’s end. Napoli may be the more motivated side and the neutral’s choice but Juventus have too much experience in their side and the required ability to prevail having won each of the last 6 League titles

GERMAN BUNDESLIGA
Predicted winners: Bayern Munich

Well, another simple prediction here. Bayern are already 19 points ahead of cross town rivals, Dortmund with just 10 games left and should easily win thier sixth straight title in May. Not that it was always smooth sailing though, they stuttered at the start of the season and sacked head coach, Ancelotti but Jupp Heynckeys has come in since then to restore the winning mentality Bayern are known to possess.

FRENCH LIGUE 1
Predicted winners: PSG

From the moment Neymar arrived and Mbappe was poached, PSG we’re destined to win the Ligue 1 title. All that was left to fight for was second place and league survival. Neymar may miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury but the Parisens have just enough in them to see out the remaining league games and this will be aided by their widely anticipated Champions League exit at the hands of Real Madrid.

OTHER LEAGUES
PSV are in pole position to win the Dutch Eredivisie. They currently occupy the top spot and are 7 points ahead of eternal rivals, Ajax Amsterdam and with just 9 games left, I’m definitely backing the Eindhoven based club to claim the title. In the Russian Premier League, I’m backing Locomotiv Moscow to emerge as champions. They have been the most consistent team all season long and are top of the pile with an 8 point gap seperating them and second place Zenit. Benfica may have won the last 4 Portuguese Primeira Liga but a fifth is a step too far as F.C. Porto will win this year’s edition. Porto have the league’s best attack and that should see them secure what is going to be a closely fought league title.
Celtic will once again win the Scottish Premiership, Rangers have definitely improved and should provide a stronger challenge next season but 2018 once again belongs to the Celts from Glasgow. The Turkish Super Lig is by far the most closely fought league amongst Europe’s top ten leagues. With eleven games still left to play, the top four are only seperated by three points. This makes it extremely hard to predict, However I’ll be sentimental and say İstanbul Başakşehir will triumph here. The club have shown remarkable and steady growth over the past four years and winning the league here will give them the reward they so deserve for all their hardwork and patience.
