Family Beyond The Pitch

The aftermath of the title race decider between Liverpool and Manchester City on Sunday has led to a bigger commotion in the England National Team with the Three Lions manager, Gareth Southgate dropping City's winger, Raheem Sterling from the squad for their two final games of the Euro 2020 qualifiers.

Just a few minutes after Liverpool defender, Joe Gomez got into the game with Liverpool leading 3-1, he got into a confrontation with City counterpart and compatriot, Raheem Sterling. While in the altercation, it was glaring that Sterling was the bitter and frustrated one stemming obviously from the fact that it was a heated game and City were losing, a loss that leaves them 9 points adrift of the current log leaders.

As if that was not enough, the two faced off in England's training ground on Monday with numerous images have surfaced afterwards online, showing Joe Gomez with a little scratch below his eye but it is unconfirmed whether the scratch was from Sterling's confrontation.

Sterling has subsequently been dropped from the England squad.

MY OPINION

I believe this was taken too far by both parties. Sterling should have allowed it die on the pitch at club level and well, maybe because they are both black players in the white set up, it is difficult to point accusing fingers of favouritism at the manager or the authorities for such decision.

We have since heard the news that the two are good and hope this doesn't last than necessary or generate the wrong vibes
