Denuevo los equipos a la pista preparandose para el Azerbaijan GP 2025, Baku es uno de los circuitos de calle que mas me gustan por el Castillo, los giros de 90 grados, las locuras que hemos visto como el 2021 cuando Hamilton se quedo sin frenada en el reinicio de partida, me queda claro que este fin de semana va a estar más loco de lo que podemos imaginar, especialmente con todo el drama que trae McLaren con sus pilotos peleandose por el campeonato y Ferrari tratando de rescatar algo de esta temporada que ha sido un desastre total para Hamilton. Piastri viene liderando por 31 puntos sobre Lando y esto ya no es coincidencia, el piloto australiano le está ganando la batalla mental a Norris y eso se ve en cada carrera, mientras que por otro lado tenemos a Max que después de ganar en Monza parece que encontró algo en el Red Bull que le puede servir para meterse en la pelea otra vez. La cosa es que Baku siempre ha sido de esas pistas donde todo se puede ir al carajo en dos segundos, con esas curvas súper apretadas en la ciudad vieja y después esa recta enorme de 2.2 kilómetros donde van a full velocidad, es como tener Mónaco y Monza en el mismo circuito.

Once again, the teams are back on track preparing for the 2025 Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Baku is one of my favorite street circuits because of the castle, the 90-degree turns, and the crazy things we've seen, like in 2021 when Hamilton lost his brakes at the restart. it's clear to me that this weekend is going to be crazier than we can imagine, especially with all the drama surrounding McLaren with its drivers fighting for the championship and Ferrari trying to salvage something from this season, which has been a total disaster for Hamilton. Piastri is leading by 31 points over Lando, and this is no longer a coincidence. The Australian driver is winning the mental battle against Norris, and you can see that in every race. On the other hand, we have Max, who, after winning at Monza, seems to have found something in the Red Bull that could help him get back into the fight. The thing is, Baku has always been one of those tracks where everything can go to hell in two seconds, with those super-tight corners in the old town and then that huge 2.2-kilometer straight where they go full speed. It's like having Monaco and Monza on the same circuit.
McLaren obviamente llega como el gran favorito y pueden hasta ganar el campeonato de constructores este fin de semana si logran sacar buena diferencia sobre Ferrari, pero yo tengo mis dudas de que les vaya tan facil como todos piensan porque Baku es traicionero y siempre pasa algo inesperado que cambia toda la estrategia, además Ferrari históricamente ha sido fuerte en esta pista por esa velocidad en recta que siempre han tenido y si Leclerc logra hacer su magia en clasificación como viene haciendo los últimos cuatro años consecutivos pues va a estar jodido alcanzarlo durante la carrera. Hamilton necesita desesperadamente un buen resultado porque hasta ahora su primera temporada con Ferrari ha sido una decepción total y si no aprovecha este fin de semana donde el auto debería rendir mejor por las características de la pista pues ya la cosa se pone muy fea para sus esperanzas de hacer algo significativo antes que termine el año, porque seamos honestos el hombre se está viendo perdido con ese Ferrari SF25 que no le funciona para nada y cada carrera que pasa es una oportunidad perdida. El tema de los neumáticos también va a ser clave porque Pirelli trajo compuestos más blandos que el año pasado osea que el neumático duro de este año es básicamente el medio del año pasado y eso cambia completamente el juego de estrategias, pueden hasta darse el lujo de intentar una estrategia de dos paradas si se presenta la oportunidad y con esa recta tan larga las oportunidades de adelantamiento van a estar ahí para quien se anime a arriesgar.

Red Bull con Verstappen va a hacer de las suyas como siempre porque el cabrón sigue haciendo milagros con ese auto que claramente no es lo que era antes pero que en manos de Max todavía puede ganar carreras cuando todo se alinea correctamente, mucho mas ahora que Laurent Mekies le ha dado mucho mas control del setup a los pilotos esto por la sospecha de falsos positivos en la data entregada por las simulaciones y el tunel de viento. Lo que me preocupa es que este Red Bull ya no domina como antes y Max tiene que hacer magia cada fin de semana para sacar resultados, pero si hay alguien capaz de hacer eso es él y después de lo que pasó en Monza donde gano con lo que reportan fue mas que todo un Setup Verstappen pues ya sabemos que nunca hay que descontarlo hasta que cruce la línea de meta, con Laurent Mekies ahora dirigiendo las cosas tal vez tengan mejor comunicación y toma de decisiones pre, durante y pos las carreras. Mercedes por su parte sigue siendo un misterio total porque a veces se ven competitivos y otras veces desaparecen completamente del mapa, Russell viene haciendo un trabajo decente pero tampoco es que estén peleando victorias y con Antonelli todavía aprendiendo y cometiendo errores de novato pues no creo que vayan a ser factor determinante en esta carrera, aunque nunca se sabe porque Baku es de esas pistas donde cualquier cosa puede pasar y un safety car en el momento indicado puede cambiar completamente el resultado final, es asi en la mayoria de los circuitos de calle donde los safety car son casi garantizados.

La batalla entre Piastri y Norris va a ser lo más interesante de ver porque ya se nota que la presión está afectando a Norris, considerando que de los dos pilotos Piastri atraves del tiempo ha demostrado ser el mejor de los dos en circuitos de calle, Norris se ve cada vez más desesperado por cerrar esa diferencia de puntos que tiene en su contra pero aveces por mala suerte o desiciones desesperadas pues no logra concretar y tuvo que McLaren intervenir para que Piastri no sacara mas puntos y es la realidad, Norris es la inversion a largo plazo de McLaren, Piastri solamente fue una buena compra. El tema es que McLaren está en una posición incómoda porque quieren ganar el campeonato de constructores pero también saben que sus dos pilotos se están peleando el campoenato y cada decisión estratégica que tomen va a favorecer a uno sobre el otro, como ya pasó en Monza con todo ese drama de las paradas en boxes y los team orders que al final dejaron a Piastri medio molesto aunque él nunca lo vaya a decir públicamente. Si yo fuera Andrea Stella estaría preocupado porque esto apenas está empezando y faltan todavía ocho carreras donde las cosas se pueden poner muy tensas si siguen con estas situaciones donde tienen que decidir quién tiene prioridad, especialmente si llegan a Abu Dhabi con el campeonato todavía abierto entre los dos McLaren, ahí sí que se va a poner feo el ambiente interno del equipo, solo imaginemos un Hamilton vs Verstappen 2021 pero en el mismo equipo.

Ferrari está en una situación complicada porque necesitan resultados ya para justificar toda la inversión que hicieron en Hamilton y hasta ahora no están viendo nada positivo, yo en lo personal me moleste mucho cuando se fue para Ferrari, conste que no soy fan de Merecdes ya que yo le voy a los pilotos no a los equipos, yo pienso que Ferrari NO necesitaba a Hamilton y mas que todo fue una movida mediatica. Actualemente el auto no funciona como debería y aunque Leclerc siempre hace magia en Baku para conseguir la pole position después en carrera no pueden mantener el ritmo contra McLaren y Red Bull, asumo que mucho menos ahora si aun siguen con el tema de la suspencion y el desgaste del plank, aun mas en un circuito de calle asi que cuidadito con una descalificacion. Hamilton está claramente frustrado y ya lo ha admitido publicamente pero tambien con algunos mensajes cripticos, se nota que está empezando a pensar más en 2026 y los nuevos reglamentos que en tratar de salvar algo de esta temporada que ya está perdida para Ferrari, porque seamos realistas ya van 16 carreras sin ganar y cada fin de semana que pasa es más obvio que este año no va a ser el año donde rompan esa sequía de títulos que ya lleva demasiado tiempo. La verdad espero una carrera súper caotica con safety cars y mucha acción y alguien seguro va a tocar en algún momento la barrera, ojala y no sea asi de tarde como Sainz / Checo 2024, además con la estrategia de neumáticos más agresiva y todas las oportunidades de adelantamiento que ofrece esa recta tan larga y se me habia volidad la curva antes de la recta que las ultimas carreras pareciera los autos derraparan el piano, una bellesa Baku.
