this track looks like fun. watched highlights, looks like people were even overtaking people on the track. red flags helped to make it more interesting.

That is called a Halo. I don't think it interferes with their line of vision as it is narrow and directly in the middle. It was introduced after Massa was hit by a fragment kicked up by the car in front of him and nearly killed him.
know about Massa incident, but had no idea that they installed that.
