What is a crypto faucet?
A crypto faucet is a website that rewards users with cryptocurrencies for filling out a captcha or some other basic task. The payments are miniscule, but are a great segway into the world of cryptocurrency for people looking to understand the technology and processes behind cryptocurrencies but are not yet ready to make an investment.
Why would anyone give away free crypto?
Websites run ads that pay per impression and yield more money than is given away through faucets. Many faucets encourage repeat visits and allow claims every 5 minutes to keep users on their websites longer, allowing them to rotate ads and increase their number of impressions.
Why would I want to claim fractions of pennies worth of cryptocurrencies?
Because it's Free? Because crypto is a bull market and the fractions of pennies can turn into actual pennies over months/weeks/days?
Honestly if you are on Steemit, you are more than likely looking to make a fortune off cryptocurrencies. Maybe you are directionless at this point in your life and looking for purpose. You are spending all day tethered to your computer commenting and making new content for Steem, and your posts here are yielding some, but not great money. Or maybe you find yourself going crazy relentlessly watch the charts of your favorite cryptos. Claiming rewards from faucets is a great way to break up the doldrum of a day of working on the internet. It is also a way to feel less guilty about spending so much time on social media sites if you are not making money off them.
Tight, I'm sold. I know I'm not going to get rich off this, but I am down to diversify my crypto portfolio without putting in anymore fiat funds or selling off my current coins. How do I get started claiming crypto faucets?
Go to www.coinpot.co and click register. (Right click the hyperlink and select open in new tab to keep this page open.)
Put in your email, then create a password and confirm your password. Then check I am not a robot and complete the human verification test. They click I agree to the terms, then click register.
Confirm your email. Once your email is confirmed you are now ready to start claiming faucet rewards.
Let's start with DOGE coin, my favorite coin to claim faucet rewards because it yields the highest % of coin relative to $$$ payout. (You get more DOGE from a faucet than other coins because DOGE is cheaper than most coins).

Apparently you can also claim faucet rewards of Litecoin (LTC) from this site, but I could never get it to load properly so I will not share/nor recommend using it.
I prefer to claim faucet rewards of DASH over BTC because the rewards are larger and they have this cool mystery bonus whenever I claim. You don't know how much it will be everytime so it makes things interesting.
Like it shows in the picture, you can also earn a %25 percent commission of your friends faucet by sharing your link with them. (I shared my link with you, so please click to support. It doesn't affect your payouts.)
You earn the most claiming every 5 minutes. Though the more you clicker, the harder/more intricate I feel the human verification/captchas become. the longer you wait, the less the faucet reward accumulates, but you can still earn claiming only once every 4 weeks. The rates can also vary based on exchange rate at the time and where you are located.
Withdrawals & Fees
CoinPot does not claim withdrawal fees, they are probably making their money off the faucet sites and their mining option (I will go in depth on another post), but they do have withdrawal minimums, they typically amount to ~$.50 worth of the coin in fiat, and you have to do the typical verification associated with most wallets before moving funds around.
Final Thoughts
While this is no get rich quick scheme, and you have to wade through many ads and click on a ton of pictures, at the end of the day you do receive cryptocurrency without putting in an money of your own which isn't horrible. It's a great way to experiment and better understand coins that might not already be in your crypto portfolio. There are definitely better ways to earn money, but as far as getting paid for thoughtless clicking goes, this is hard to beat.
