Dan is also notorious for creating some of the best technology in cryptospace. Next to Satoshi Nakamoto himself there are few who are more legendary in their ability to architect new blockchains. That said, marketing has always been a weak point, as Bitshares was a great technology which had no marketing. Most people barely heard of Bitshares and the key to Steemit having value isn't just getting a lot of users fast but also to create demand for Steem.
