VFX artist Sean Kennedy shows us how open source software tools are used in his production pipeline.
I wanted to show you this example of just how far the quality of open source software production tools have come. We are now seeing an array of these tools being used at the top of the audio/ video production food chain right along side their proprietary "competitors".
Check out his website. He has a very open mentality that we are starting to see a lot more of these days. People are beginning to realize that a sharing economy can actually be quite profitable. On his site you can find free assets that he created and is giving away without conditions for others to use. There is also a curated list of open source and free software tools that he uses in production.

I find these tools and the open mentality particularly interesting in the power that it represents for people to create content. No longer does anyone need to shell out serious cash to have the ability to create stuff. Again, I say, we are living in what seems to me to be the most transformative moment in human history. We have the power to create the change we want. We just need to do it!
