It meant that we are part of a society, and as such we will always be subject to accept certain laws of social living.

Yes, unfortunately we all are subject to a social contract because we live in a society that have some rules that need to be followed. You will never be free to do whatever you like if you live in society.

I suppose that's true on it's face but it certainly doesn't make it right.

Yes, we have no alternative but to obey. That is why we will never be 100% free while living in society. That is a trade off, you give up some freedom to live in society.

I didn't "give up" my freedom anymore than a child born into a prison gave up their freedom. I was born into this "society".

'Obey' sounds bad nevertheless
