No doubt there are many conflicts going in our world today that have us worried, and most of us would like that to be different. Without getting into details of real or fabricated conflicts and wars surrounding us, I’m going to talk about a simple yet meaningful way to change the world we live in. If there is something I learned this last year, it's that looking for a hero to change the world is useless. Looking inside ourselves is the only place we'll find someone to change the world, one little step at a time.
December 6th was St. Nikolaus day in this part of the world, and I had the pleasure of joining my friend who volunteers giving refugee children afterschool study lessons. Since it was a special day, she did something different with them. She picked up her little charges and we gathered at her house, played Uno together and had some cake and cookies.
We put on English children’s music because the kids are not only learning our language, but English also. They're already rocking our language! I even sang them an English song, which they unmercifully ignored. I do hope it was just my singing skills.
The kids, so genuine and sweet, had some serious fun prancing and dancing around in Santa's hat. These children were so abandoned in their happiness, it was a blessing to behold! It was such a simple afternoon, but very meaningful.
So here we were, changing prejudices and preconceptions one smile at a time.
This is the simplest answer to our complex questions, that I could find.

Vangelis – I'll Find My Way Home
You ask me where to begin
Am I so lost in my sin
You ask me where did I fall
I'll say I can't tell you when
But if my spirit is lost
How will I find what is near
Don't question I'm not alone
Somehow I'll find my way home
My sun shall rise in the east
So shall my heart be at peace
And if you're asking me when
I'll say it starts at the end
You know your will to be free
Is matched with love secretly
And talk will alter your prayer
Somehow you'll find you are there.
Your friend is close by your side
And speaks in far ancient tongue
A seasons wish will come true
All seasons begin with you
One world we all come from
One world we melt into one
Just hold my hand and we're there
Somehow we're going somewhere
Somehow we're going somewhere
[interlude]
You ask me where to begin
Am I so lost in my sin
You ask me where did I fall
I'll say I can't tell you when
But if my spirit is strong
I know it can't be long
No questions I'm not alone
Somehow I'll find my way home
Somehow I'll find my way home
Somehow I'll find my way home
Somehow I'll find my way home
"So here we were, changing prejudices and preconceptions one smile at a time."
Beautiful.
Thank you :)
