Like I just told Shepz1 in a comment and I'll repeat it here, as I see it they've had free reign of terror on me for years so I don't feel the least bit guilty of enjoying see them gone even on a temporary basis.
I have to be honest and tell you this is the best it's been around here for well over a decade now. It's like when I moved here thirty years ago, nice and quiet. Yeah I called and told the parks department that someone ripped off the boards over the basketball hoops so they'd come and replace them. I rather am enjoying that there is not thirty, forty, fifty people on the weekend pulling up with stereo's blazing, people cussing, arguing within a hundred feet of my house. I didn't buy this house with that court there they put it there, it never got any use at all for years then bang...every weekend family backyard picnic came with a dozen to dozens of uninvited guess. Up until a few years back when they finally got a grip on it there used to be mini riots over there, they'd run through people's yards picking up sticks and bricks to hit each other with, drag people down the middle of the road by the hair of their head. If this virus thing wasn't so serious I'd go get me a karaoke machine and go over there, stand on the court and belt out that song my Sharona except I'd replace Sharona with Corona, that's how ecstatic I am that mess is gone right now. Call me a snitch all you want but personally I don't think they should be given a right to utterly destroy my environment year, after year, after year. What worked for a smaller population way back when when deciding the placement of things is way different then what has transpired since, a court that close to people's homes just isn't fair. One day last summer they showed up with a car that had a stereo system boom box style. I couldn't even hear the television no matter how high I turned it up, I couldn't even think straight it was so loud. It took the cops two hours to show up. After the cops left they turned it back up, after a couple hours of waiting for the cops to show up again I finally put ear plugs in and went to bed instead, there simply wasn't another alternative except to leave your own house. In a planned grand master plan to the parks they are suppose to one day move it up in front of a party store where it won't bother the neighbors as much, that day can't come soon enough for me. In the mean time I am going to fully enjoy this small temporary reprieve from all that mess.
