Have you ever petted your little darling just to look lovingly at them and suddenly, you almost gag because, they, just as lovingly - or maybe more, yawned and you got hit with a full dose of dog breath.
That can be enough to make your world go around, your world go around, your world go around. Yup. dizzy from just a bit too much of foul smell.
We once housed a couple we called the Hippies who ended up being quite a trip. but that is another story. They had this tiny little yuppy dog which had only one tooth. The breath could have made an elephant fall over. Well, maybe two elephants if they were positioned right and got the full blast into their faces.
But that is a lie. Because animals are used to stink. We aren't with our nice white linens and daily showers washing all and any of our odors away - or so we hope.
We look at nature on the TV screen and it looks so idyllic. But the reality is mosquitos biting at any time and lots and lots of smells. Well, we get a hint at the Zoo. but there, the animals get cleaned, their teeth brushed (maybe) and are taken care off. In the wild, they get hurt.

From the optics of nature, the bad smells are part of the animals, because as you mention in your freewrite the animals by nature do not brush their teeth, excellent post, I liked the point of view that you focused on the subject, regards...

We think animals smell bad, but it can be subjective for them.
Oh, for sure. What we think smells good or not is very much an acquired taste. For example, I think that most detergents smell terrible and can't even stand to walk down an aisle in a market with cleaning products - while so many think it smells so good :)
I just listened to a very interesting podcast - The Ted Radio Hour. The show aired on July 19th and is called The Five Senses in case you want to give it a listen. The section on smell is very relevant to this conversation.
Ah, yes...the smells from the zoo. But as you pointed out, they must smell much worse in the wild. I never thought about that before and I sure don't like knowing that they get hurt in the wild.
